- Cultural Mediation: Facilitating clinical encounters that involve cultural differences
- Teaching patients how to navigate the health-care system
- Helping patients to access the hospital Program for Uncompensated Care
- Advocating for patients
- Promoting the continuity of follow up care

- Interpretation
- Cultural Mediation: Facilitating clinical encounters that involve cultural differences.
- Cultural Consultation: consulting about cultural issues affecting the care of a particular patient.
- Teaching Spanish classes for healthcare providers
- Educating clinical staff on how to work with interpreters
- Providing cultural information about a variety of topics
including:
- Health beliefs
- Traditional health practices
- Explaining diagnoses to patients
Services
Available to Communities
- Working with the communities to identify and remove barriers to health-care at Mason General and in the wider community.
- Responding to requests for education about diabetes, asthma, depression and other topics.
- Providing a medical interpreter training once a year that is free and open to all community members who are bilingual in Spanish and English.
